We asked Suspira's editor, Valentina Egoavil Medina, to tell us about her favourite vampire: From Gary Oldman as Count Dracula to Salma Hayek as Santanico Pandemonium, the list of my favourite vampires is extensive. On top of that list, however, is a character that in my opinion has redefined the archetype of the modern vampire – Eve, played by Tilda Swinton in Jim Jarmush’s cult film Only Lovers Left Alive. Unlike many female vampires, Eve is never over sexualised or objectified. Instead the focus is placed on her wisdom, emotional intelligence and unfazed optimism, which counterbalances her partner Adam’s Weltschmerz. Eve’s compassion, love and serene lust for life is not something we see often portrayed in century old vampires. What makes Eve (and Adam) in my eyes so special, is that their vampiric existence isn’t driven by power, sex or violence, it simply is about experiencing life in their own unique way with its highs and lows, for as long as it may last. link click upn equals 3rf VBQB 2F 7CD Andpy 35… Exclusive newsletter offer link click upn equals 3rf VBQB 2F 7CD Andpy 35… Use code EXCLUSIVE to take 20 percent off the newest issue of link The Gentlewoman for the next 72 hours only! link Get it while it lasts link click upn equals 3rf VBQB 2F 7CD Andpy 35… link Twitter link Facebook link Instagram Copyright Copyright 2019 Stack, All rights reserved.
