Many of us have practices which integrate writing beyond that which is FPO. Whether you have a specific topic relating to your graphic design practice, a perspective on an aspect of our creative world, or a general urge to fall into or back into a creative relationship with writing, this workshop is designed to offer the support and accountability to help our community start writing, keep writing, edit and publish short essays and other nonfiction. While most workshop sessions will be devoted to full and divided group peer editing, we will begin classes with prompted free writing designed to let ourselves ease into the creative shaping of words and phrases, and to acquaint or reacquaint ourselves with a writing flow. To culminate our session, we will prepare a publication to print and adapt our work for a public group reading. About the group: The group is led by Elie Andersen, an independent designer, member of the XXXI studio, and founder of Crit, a collective of artists, writers and designers based on group critique. The workshop is limited to 7 participants, and a scholarship is available to one candidate who demonstrates the most need for it. link Sign up here right arrow About our workshops: Learning stuff is great, especially when you’re not in school anymore and maybe you haven’t taken a class in a while. As part of our ongoing focus on providing tools for designers, XXXI is piloting a workshop program for and led by members of the design community. We set our classes up with ourselves in mind: affordable, small in person group environment, and taught by designers. Our hope is to circulate the resources we can provide to each other, at an affordable price and in a setting that’s friendly and collaborative. Did you know that a lot of employers will pay for you to take classes? We’ll give you a diploma at the end to prove it. Do you have a tool you’d like to share with the community?
